VP's Greetings

Greetings from Korea University in Seoul

Greetings from the Office of International Affairs! As Vice President, it is my pleasure to welcome you to this online resource for all things international at Korea University.

The Office of International Affairs assists in the development of Korea University as a vibrant international community and as a support resource for the promotion of the institution as a leading global center for academic thought and dialogue.

Under the inspired leadership of Prof. Jaeho Yeom, the university continues to remain true to its mission of being an historic source of hope and pride for the nation, while also seeking to address the many important challenges facing Korean universities. With a university slogan of "KU - the Future!" the Office of International Affairs focuses on three main strategic initiatives, Fostering Global Leaders, Nurturing Korea's Friends and Raising the University's International Profile.

We seek to Foster Global Leaders, through offering outstanding opportunities for Korea University students to participate in exchanges with top quality universities from around the world. In addition, the office is providing an ever-expanding number of programs administered through our Global Leadership Development Center -- many of which include a service-learning component helping our students connect with local and international communities. Yearly, the Office of International Affairs facilitates the sending out of about 1,200 Korea University students all over the world to expand their horizons and foster their global leadership skills. In addition we welcome over 1,500 exchange students to our campus from our partners as well.

The Office of International Affairs also assists in the Nurturing of Korea's Friends by attracting and supporting the best and brightest international students to attend our International Summer Campus program and our university degree offerings. Each summer we host over 1,600 students to our campus for this condensed six-week semester and each year over 1,700 students enroll in our many degree programs as well. We support their educational experiences by offering valuable internship opportunities and career advising support prior to graduation.

And finally, the Office of International Affairs plays a key-role in helping to Raise the University's International Profile. In the increasingly competitive higher education market it is important to promote Korea University as not only a world-class academic institution, but also to share with external audiences the many outstanding accomplishments of our professors and researchers. The university also continues to play the key role of "trusted advisor" in not only the area of national education policy, but also regarding the development of human capital as it affects the future course of civilization. Each year the Office of International Affairs welcomes over 1,000 visitors to the campus for administrative meetings, benchmarking study-tours and academic conferences.

As you can see from these many initiatives, the Office of International Affairs is a dynamic and vibrant place and we are proud to be an important part of the Korea University family. With this in mind, I invite you to continue to explore the variety of resources on this website. If you can't find what you are looking for, be sure to contact the Office directly --- it is our pleasure to assist you in any way we can. In the meantime enjoy your virtual visit to Korea University.
